Jimetta Finnie Littlejohn Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was created to honor the legacy of Jimetta Finnie Littlejohn and her 50+ year nursing career. She started her nursing career as a teenage mother immediately after graduating high school. although she had many obstacles to overcome as a young African American healthcare worker in the late 1960’s, she persevered, always gave top notch care, and became a leader in the industry. For more than 50 years, Jimetta served her patients and family with excellence. She was a loving mother, devoted friend, and outstanding human being known to many as “Momma J.” This scholarship will be used to provide awards for students enrolled at Greenville Technical College and may be used to pay eligible educational expenses for recipients, such as tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Students eligible for this scholarship are those enrolled in certificate, diploma, degree, or vocational programs at the College. A student must have and maintain at least a “C” average or 2.0 GPA at the college, or from previous high school or college academic work if not previously enrolled at the College. Preference will be given to students who are historically underserved with experience living or working in a diverse community. Student must be the primary caregiver in the home and/or a single parent. Priority will be given for students with great financial need.
